Smallcakes Cupcakery

Today is international cupcake day! I decided to celebrate by trying a new place, Smallcakes: A Cupcakery.

This Cupcakery is located on both LoneTree and Belmar.
The cupcakes here are fresh, and they have many different flavors. This place was also featured on MTV.
They have different specials of the day each week, and classic favorite flavors.
Today's special was a Rainbow Sherbert cupcake:
The cupcake was delicious, and they were freshly baked when we got there. Some of their famous flavors are Chocoholic, Hot Fudge Sundae and Caramel Crunch.

They also have a website: www.smallcakescolorado.com

It was a nice way to celebrate international cupcake day :)

Legos at the Denver Zoo

The Denver Zoo sure has grown since I last visited with my friends a year ago. Each area now has a theme connected to their animals, with many exciting pathways and activites for children.
One of my favorite areas was the updated Elephant and Pachyderm exhibits that were inspired by the majestic and exotic atmosphere of India. They even had a bridge for the Elephants to cross over the walking path in the exhibit, and three buddhist prayer wheels at the main entrance of the big Elephant house. The exhibit also had a statue of the Hindu God Ganesh, and you could make a wish by balancing it on the statue. It was a really clever detail to the exhibit, and it made you feel like part of the world that the elephants lived in.
When I went to the zoo, they had a special event where lego sculputures of different animals were placed in the park. It was a bit of a goose chase to find them all, and the fox sculpture captured the sly characteristic of the animal, as in it was almost impossible to find. But the sculputres were amazing, and each one had a small, infomative sign about the animal it portrayed.
Some sculptures were made to honor the green foundation with a gardner, lawn mower and brid feeder with fake birds.
All in all the Denver Zoo has upgraded its atmosphere while still preserving its fan favorite services.

Butterflies and Flowers: The Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield CO

The Botanic Garden at Chatfield Colorado are a sight to see. From the country atmosphere to the many species of hummingbirds and butterflies visiting the garden.
I had only visited the gardens in fall for the Corn Maze. It was kind of tradition to go every year with my friends, so visting during the summer was very different.
A new attraction was announced for the gardens this year, a butterfly house. At the butterfly house, native species of butterflies would be presented to the garden and have an area of their own until September.
It was a nice day when I went to the garden, and the butterflies were very beautiful. It's a quaint green house at the front of the garden with a fountain and lots of flowers native to Colorado.
Right next to the fountain at the entrance, they had a section for the cocoons of butteflies who hadn't hatched yet, and a worker monitored the area, letting the hatched butterflies go to explore the garden.
The day I visited the garden, a Monarch butterfly was released to the garden, and it was fascinating to watch the butterfly adapt to its environment.
After the butterfly house, I walked around the outer garden, and I found their hiking trails.
The hiking trails go araound the garden, which is divided into different themed sections that can be rented for special ocassions.
They had a wedding area:
A few nice bridges:

And many themed gardens, including a medical herb garden:
The Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield are a very nice place to visit during the summer.
